Jets announce 2022 line-up

The Sunbury Jets are excited to announce three quarters of their 2022 coaching line-up.

The SBA is delighted to announce that both Chris Tighe and John de Jonge have been reappointed and will continue in their roles as Youth League Coaches.

Both Coaches have been actively involved in many junior roles around the SBA and have worked tirelessly during the last two seasons given all the barriers of COVID-19.

SBA Coaching Director Kennedy Kereama had this to say about the reappointment of both Coaches; “John de Jonge and Chris Tighe have done a tremendous job and had the difficult tasks of navigating around the uncertainty that COVID-19 presents with lockdowns and league cancelations etc. Both coaches have been influential around the club and go above and beyond to give their time to several our junior teams and programs. These re-appointments were an easy decision from an SBA perspective, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth in these roles.”

Coach John White who has guided the Championship Women’s program over the past two seasons will now transition into the role of Championship Men’s Head Coach for the next three seasons. After the State Championship Women’s 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19 the SCW finished 2nd in the regular season and were due to play finals before the 2021 season was cancelled. Coach John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the SCM program after assisting in both the NBL with the Melbourne Tigers and the WNBL with the Dandenong Rangers. Coach John White has previous playing and coaching experience at SCM level and has worked with the U20 Victorian Metro State program.

SBA Coaching Director Kennedy Kereama also had this to say about John Whites appointment; “This appointment will create continued stability with a 3-year appointment and allow Coach John to build a program with deep roots into our Youth and Junior program.”

Open trainings and scrimmages for all senior programs will commence sometime later this year with dates still TBC.

The SBA will advertise and begin the search a suitably qualified Championship Women’s Coach in the coming weeks.
